On-Device AI · Privacy by Architecture

The IEP,
Understood.

OurIEP is developing an on-device AI platform to help parents understand IEPs, teachers implement accommodations, and administrators track compliance — all with student data that stays on your device.

AI-Powered Clarity

One platform for the
whole IEP team

OurIEP is being built to serve every stakeholder in the IEP process — parents, teachers, and administrators — through two integrated applications sharing a common AI engine and privacy architecture.

On-Device AI

All AI inference is designed to run entirely on Apple Silicon — iPhone via Neural Engine, Mac via M-series GPU. Student PII stays on the educator's or parent's device.

Shared AI Engine

Both applications will use the same compact LLM from Google's Gemma family with proprietary prompts — ensuring consistent, high-quality analysis across all stakeholders.

FERPA by Architecture

No cloud accounts, no data sharing agreements, no privacy policies to negotiate with districts. Compliance is built into the architecture, not bolted on.

Three steps to
understanding

Our goal: no account required, no setup. Import your IEP and get answers.

1

Import

Import your child's IEP PDF from Files, email, or any app using the share sheet. Your document stays on your device — always.

2

Analyze

OurIEP's AI engine reads the document and structures the content — goals, services, accommodations, rights — in seconds.

3

Understand

Read plain-English summaries, ask follow-up questions, and leave your child's next IEP meeting feeling confident and prepared.

Built for real families,
real classrooms.

Parents, Empowered Plain-language summaries that turn jargon into clarity — in seconds, on your phone.

Educators, Supported Compliance documentation and accommodation tracking — so teachers can focus on teaching.

Built on evidence,
not hype

OurIEP is under active development and pursuing federal research funding through the U.S. Department of Education's SBIR program. Our approach is grounded in special education research and guided by practitioners with decades of experience.

📊

The Problem

  • 7.5M students receive IEP services under IDEA
  • 50% of parents don't understand IEP documents (NCLD)
  • Teachers spend 1-3+ hrs/assignment on manual modifications
  • No existing tool bridges the comprehension gap
🎯

Phase II Vision

  • Multi-language support (Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese)
  • iPad and Android expansion
  • District-level analytics dashboard
  • National commercialization via App Store + licensing

Your child's data
stays on your device

100% On-Device AI Processing

All AI analysis runs locally on Apple Silicon — iPhone via Neural Engine, Mac via M-series GPU. Student data is processed on-device and never sent to external servers for analysis.

Offline-First Design

OurIEP is designed to work completely offline for all document analysis. No internet connection required. An optional encrypted sync service may be offered in the future for team coordination — but all processing stays on-device.

FERPA Compliance by Architecture

Because no student PII ever leaves the device, there are no data sharing agreements to negotiate, no BAAs to sign, and no breach notification obligations.

Compact On-Device LLM

Powered by Google's Gemma family of models, optimized for Apple Silicon. The same AI engine runs on both iPhone and Mac with identical privacy guarantees.
