Our Architecture
We didn't bolt privacy on as an afterthought — we built OurIEP so that protecting your family's sensitive data is structurally impossible to bypass.

🔑 The short version: Your IEP documents and your child's information never leave your iPhone. Skybound Solutions never stores, sees, or has access to your family's data.
1. Who We Are
OurIEP is a product of Skybound Solutions LLC, a Michigan-based software company. We can be reached at ouriep@skyboundmi.com.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We are explicit about what we do not collect:
- Your child's name, date of birth, student ID, or any personally identifiable information (PII)
- Your child's IEP document or its full text
- Your AI conversation history or follow-up questions
- Any analysis results generated by the app
- Photos, contacts, or any other on-device data
3. How the App Works (Data Flow)
Understanding our data flow is key to understanding our privacy model:
- Local storage: All IEP documents, AI summaries, and conversation history are stored exclusively on your iPhone using Apple's secure local storage. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
- AI analysis: When you request an explanation, the app extracts the document text and sends it (via HTTPS) to a Cloud Function proxy hosted on Google Cloud. This proxy verifies your app purchase and forwards the text to Google's Vertex AI for analysis. No student names or identifiers are included in this transmission.
- Stateless processing: Google's Vertex AI processes your request and returns a response. It does not retain your data. Our Cloud Function proxy does not log or store the document text.
- Response: The AI response is returned to your device and stored locally. The full cycle leaves no persistent copy of your data on any server.
4. Purchase & Authentication Data
OurIEP uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. We verify your purchase receipt to authenticate access to premium features. We receive only a purchase receipt token from Apple — no payment card information. We do not require you to create an account.
5. Crash Reporting & Analytics
We may collect anonymous, aggregated crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) to help us fix bugs. These reports contain device model, OS version, and stack traces only — never document content or personal information.
6. FERPA Compliance
OurIEP is designed with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) in mind. Because we do not store educational records on our servers and process only de-identified document text, we operate as a software vendor, not an educational institution or data processor under FERPA. Your family's IEP data remains under your exclusive control at all times.
7. Children's Privacy
OurIEP is intended for use by parents and guardians, not by children themselves. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently received such information, contact us immediately at ouriep@skyboundmi.com.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you control retention completely. Deleting the app removes all stored data. We retain no server-side copies to delete on your behalf.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and notify you through the app. Your continued use of OurIEP after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
